Misbah confident Pak can bounce back following Champions Trophy drubbing

Islamabad , Mon, 01 Jul 2013 ANI

Islamabad, July 1 (ANI): Pakistan skipper Misbah-ul-Haq believes that his team can overcome serious weaknesses to rebuild for the 2015 World Cup in time, after a miserable showing at the Champions Trophy had made ex Pakistani cricketers question the team's capabilities.

According to The Dawn, the Pakistani captain had conceded changes in the team ahead of their West Indies tour scheduled later this month, with most of the batting flopping during their matches in England.

The veteran batsman said that they could rebuild the team in the next two years by working on good players and grooming them for the future, while denying there was any rift in the team following the dismal performances.

Pakistan have now been on the losing side in four of the last five one-day series under the captain who was 'deeply disappointed' with the team's performance in the Champions Trophy, where he top-scored with 173.

Misbah blamed the lack of playing at home for their failure, as the country was forced to play at neutral venues ever since militants attacked a Sri Lankan team bus in March 2009, adding that batsmen had to address the problem of playing in foreign conditions.

Talks are currently on to appoint former captain Inzamam-ul Haq as a batting consultant after Australian coach Trent Woodhill failed to produce desired results. (ANI)
