New Delhi, June 11 (IANS) An overcast sky and cool breeze in the forenoon Tuesday brought relief from the searing heat in the capital, a weather official said, forecasting rain the next day.

The maximum temperature, which till Monday was hovering around 40 degrees Celsius, Tuesday dipped to six notches below average at 32.8 degrees Celsius.

The met department has forecast rain Wednesday.

The cool breeze was welcomed by one and all. "It was such a lovely weather. Riding a bike in the capital was fun with cool wind blowing into you face," said Tritesh Jha, a resident of south Delhi.

However, the sun appeared in the sky later in the day.

The minimum temperature settled at 29.2 degrees Celsius - one notch above average. The humidity remained between 73 and 52 percent.

"Wednesday will have a partly cloudy sky and rain and thunder storm are expected during the day," said a Met official.

Wednesday's maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to hover around 35 and 28 degrees Celsius, he said.
