Sydney, June 8 (ANI): The European Union is anxious about its citizens' privacy over reports about the U.S. secretly accessing user data from internet giants.
According to News.com, Cecilia Malmstroem, EU Home Affairs Commissioner, has expressed concern about the possible consequences of the secret operation carried out by the US agencies on the EU citizens.
Malmstroem said that she would be discussing this issue with her American counterparts to seek more information.
The U.S. government with NSA and FBI has been reportedly tapping the servers and phone data of some of the biggest tech firms like Yahoo, Google, Apple, Microsoft and YouTube.
However, U.S. President Barack Obama has defended the surveillance system claiming it to be legal, the report added. (ANI)
