Kolkata, June 2 (IANS) They eagerly awaited Sundays when they could lay their hands on their favourite weekly column by the versatile genius Rituparno Ghosh.

But the first Sunday after the tragic demise of the master storyteller, who died following cardiac arrest Thursday, is more about gloom and desperation for the fans of "First Person" -- Ghosh's column in Bengali weekly Robbar (Sunday).

"Every Sunday morning I waited eagerly for your 'First Person'. But today I am not excited. I know your writing will not come out anymore. Where are you? I don't know," wrote a reader on a social networking site.

Bereaved fans poured their hearts out on the virtual world, paying rich tribute to Ghosh and his story telling.

"Rituparno sir, I can't accept that 'First Person' will not be published anymore," said another.

Facebook and Twitter have been flooded with messages like "Our First Person is no more. RIP sir".

Rituparno, who was suffering from pancreatitis, passed away at his south Kolkata residence in sleep Thursday. He was 49.
