Triple F1 champ Lauda backs Hamilton following criticism on 'dog distraction'

London , Sun, 26 May 2013 ANI

London, May 26 (ANI): Former Formula One racer Niki Lauda has backed Mercedes ace Lewis Hamilton by saying that Hamilton should be allowed his freedom following the criticism that the presence of Hamilton's pet bulldog Roscoe in the Monaco Grand Prix has been distracting.

Hamilton came second and was less than a tenth behind his team-mate Nico Rosberg who handed over Mercedes their fourth successive pole, the Mirror reports.

Advisor to the Mercedes team, Lauda said that he prefers to leave Hamilton his freedom provided he is happy and as long as the dog is not doing the driving.

Lauda also said that Hamilton loves his dog as it does not speak against him and does not complain.

According to the report, Hamilton was taken aback by the criticism.

Hamilton retorted by saying that he is unable to understand how a dog can be distracting, adding that he usually does not have a problem with confidence and is delighted to be second at the race. (ANI)
