Brit designers create baby booties from breast milk

New York , Fri, 17 May 2013 ANI

New York, May 17 (ANI): A British designer duo has used proteins extracted from a woman's donated breast milk to create tiny, hardened baby shoes.

Designer Nick Gant said in a statement that turning waste material such as breast milk that couldn't otherwise be used, into something new, gives the products created greater meaning and value.

He and his wife Tanya Dean made baby shoes in honour of World Breast Milk Donation Day, this Sunday, the New York Daily News reported.

Gant said that their aim is to highlight the importance of breast milk donation, and to challenge people's perceptions about so-called waste products.

Gant and Dean are planning to create five more pairs of the 1-inch long booties, which are not meant to be worn.

The miniature booties will be presented to a donor on the occasion on Sunday. (ANI)
