India urges Pakistan to stop pilgrim visits

New Delhi , Mon, 13 May 2013 ANI

New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): India has urged Pakistan to stop its pilgrims from undertaking visits in the wake of the recent death of Sarabjit Singh in Lahore.

Union Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot said: "Our High Commission in Pakistan has told the government over there that it will be better if the pilgrims do not come here this year."

Many pilgrims visit the shrine of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti to pay homage to his dath anniversary.

This year, however, the Indian High Commission has told the Pakistan Government not to send pilgrims to India.

The Ajmer shrine has been a frequent haunt for Pakistani civilians, diplomats and leaders with the most recent important visit being that of former Pakistani Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in April this year. (ANI)
