Melbourne, May 13 (ANI): A simple smartphone app to click images of meals could be a helpful slimming aid for obese people, according to the doctors.

Developed by UK doctors, the aim of the app is to promote "food memory" so people are able to remember what they have eaten and encourage them not to eat any other high calorie-food.

The app has to be used in three parts, first part is that the user clicks a picture of his food before he eats it, secondly after finishing the meal the individual looks at it and answers the question whether they finished it all and if they are full now.

The last part is that before eating any further meals they look back at the pictures clicked in the course of entire day and get a text message that urges them to remind them of the food that they have eaten, News.com.au reported.

Twelve overweight people of both sexes were monitored for 4-weeks and they accessed the app more than five times a day and recorded 2.7 daily "episodes" of eating and drinking.

The volunteers were able to lose 1.5 kilos on average during the study period

University of Liverpool investigator Eric Robinson said that raising awareness of eating and weight loss achieved suggests that this approach could be fruitful. (ANI)
