New Delhi, May 13 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday lashed out at Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh over his offensive remark against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, saying people have even stopped taking his government at the Centre seriously.
"I don't know whether Digvijay Singh is taken seriously or not. People have stopped even taking his government seriously. Narendra Modi is a very prolific leader, widely respected not only in India, but around the world for his integrity, for his strong leadership quality and also his impeccable record of good governance," said BJP chief spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Digvijay Singh earlier in the day avoided commenting on Modi's criticism of the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre, saying 'we don't take him seriously'.
The Gujarat Chief Minister, who addressed the Indian diaspora in 18 US cities through video conferencing from Gandhinagar earlier in the day, lashed out at the Congress-led UPA calling it a 'weak government'.
"The country is heading towards a new crisis. I know that today is 'Gujarat Day', but I am also the son of mother India and I can understand that you are also concerned and worried about India. A weak government causes extensive damage and this we have seen in the incidents which have occurred in the last one month," he said.
During his speech, Modi said that Gujaratis are a global community and in true sense they are our cultural ambassadors.
The Gujarat Chief Minister, who is touted by many to be the BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate in 2014, also lashed at the leaders of the ruling UPA Government for betraying the people of this country.
"The behaviour and policies of some of the top leaders has broken the trust of the people of this country. The trust of 1.2 billion people has been broken," he added. (ANI)
