Poonch, May 12 (ANI): The Army and Police have busted a hideout and seized arms, ammunition and explosives including four AK-series rifles among nine weapons in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of Police and Army launched a search operation and busted a hideout near LoC on Saturday.
"We were getting information for the past one and half months that at the LC Sabara Gali Mendher sector some ammunition has been hidden. Thus this was a joint effort by the Jammu and Kashmir police and the district police to find out the location, and we recovered it with the help of the army 5 GR (Gorkha Rifles). We have recovered four rifles, 1000 rounds of ammunition and much more," said Shamsheer Hussain, Superintendent of Police, Poonch.
The recovered arms and ammunition included 1019 AK 47 rounds, four AK rifles, seven wireless sets, two mobile phones, one UBGL gun, one hand grenade, two Chinese made pistols, two Pakistan made pistols, four magazines of AK 47.
Police also said that the bag in which the arms were recovered was Pakistan made.
"There was a gunny bag through which we got the recovery that mentioned about Bhawalpur; the symbol on the bag reads that it is a Pakistani make. There is a logo of Pakistani sugar factory on it," added Hussain.
The police said that they are trying to nab the accused after this recovery and are on a constant alert for more such recoveries. (ANI)
