Srinagar, May 11 (ANI): A civilian in Kashmir was shot dead by suspected militants.
Mudassir Ahmed Mir, a resident of Lassipora village in Pulwama district in Jammu and Kashmir was shot dead by suspected militants on Friday at around 11 pm.
Mir had returned home after offering his evening prayers at the local mosque and had finished his dinner when the incident happened.
Neighbours suspect the hand of some militant group behind the killing.
Mir's murder has baffled everyone in the vicinity as he was a person who had no enmity with anyone.
"His name was Mudassir Ahmed Mir. He came home after offering his evening prayers. The time must have been around 9 pm (local time). Later in the night, some people called him out of his house and then shot him dead. He is innocent and it is not known why he was killed. He has got three small children. His killers should have atleast thought even once as to what was his mistake. He is innocent," said Imtiyaz Ahmed, a neighbour who arrived for Mir's funeral on Saturday morning .
The police have registered a case in this regard and have started their investigations in the matter.
On Friday militants had also gunned down a policeman Farooq Ahmed in Pulwama district.
It is feared that groups of trained militants are preparing to sneak into the valley from across the Line of Control (LoC) ever since the mountain passes opened up following the melting of snow.(ANI)
