I don't think TV interests me at all: Divya Dutta

Mumbai,Cinema/Showbiz, Thu, 09 May 2013 IANS

Mumbai, May 9 (IANS) She had her stint on the small screen with shows like "Shanno Ki Shaadi", but Divya Dutta is not interested in the medium anymore.

"I was offered something big on TV. I don't think TV interests me at all. I guess I get bored," Divya told IANS in an interview.

"I like to be in different roles. One role limits you to the same character for a few years and I think that is very boring," she reasoned.

However, the 35-year-old admits that the thin line between films and television industry is diminishing.

"Gone are the days when you could say that she has come from TV to films. Whatever you are good at, do it, but don't be over exposed," said the actress whose performance has been appreciated in films like "Veer Zaara", "Delhi-6" and "Heroine".

But the actress is still "not satisfied" with her journey.

"I would always think that there is something better for me in store. Greedy actors should never be satisfied. This is the nicest period in my career," she said.

Known for mostly playing character roles, she doesn't want to be categorised.

"I don't think I can be bound by a lead or a character. In the male category, you have Irrfan, Arjun Rampal who do character as well as lead roles. In the female category, I don't think you have anyone like that," she said.

"I think, that is why people wonder where to categorise me. I don't need to be categorised. I would like to do something where people will carry me home in their memories," she said.

In fact, in Dharma Productions' "Gippi", coming out Friday, the actress is playing a mother to a teenage girl, but has no fear of getting typecast.

"The role has to be meaty. That is most important. I don't think good actors are type-cast. They are always experimental," she said and praised the film.

"It's been good fun. It is my first film with Dharma. It is a beautifully written script. All my co-stars are kids. It's been fun. The energy is raw, fresh and enthusiastic," she added.
