Aarushi murder case: CBI court to record Talwars' statement today

Ghaziabad, Tue, 07 May 2013 ANI

Ghaziabad, May 7 (ANI): The special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court hearing the Aarushi-Hemraj double murder case will record statements of the dentist couple Rajesh and Nupur Talwar here today.

However, both Rajesh and Nupur are likely to move an application seeking more time to record the statement.

Special CBI judge Shyam Lal rejected the defence counsel's plea, which demanded that 13 other witnesses including ADG (law and order) and the then CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar also be called to record statements.

Nupur and Rajesh Talwar are accused in the twin murders. The duo has also been charged with destruction of evidence.

A CBI trial court in Ghaziabad has charged Talwars under sections 302/34 (murder with common intention) and 201 (destruction of evidence with common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

In addition to these, the court charged Rajesh Talwar under section 203 (giving false information in respect of an offence committed) of the IPC.

Aarushi, 14, was found dead with her throat slit at her Noida residence on May 16, 2008 and the body of her domestic help Hemraj was recovered from the terrace a day later. (ANI)
