BJP says won't let Parliament function till Bansal, Ashwani quit

New Delhi, Tue, 07 May 2013 ANI

New Delhi, May 7 (ANI): The BJP Parliamentary Board on Tuesday decided not to allow any bill to be passed in the Parliament till Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and Law Minister Ashwani Kumar are sacked from their posts.

The BJP has also warned the Congress-led UPA Government not to try and push important legislation through till the two ministers quit.

"Does the UPA want to get away with murder? The UPA expects us to support them in this legislative cover up? We demand PM's, Law Minister's and Railway Minister's resignation," BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy told media here.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj on Monday asked the Congress-led UPA Government to sack its two ministers or else the opposition won't allow the Parliament to function.

Swaraj also said "the entire opposition is united that no bill should be passed amidst pandemonium, especially Food Security Bill and Land Acquisition Bill".

"We ourselves want debate. The government should seek the resignation of corrupt ministers and parliament will function," she added.

Swaraj alleged that the UPA Government was trying to push the Food Security Bill to divert people's attention from the misdeeds of its ministers.

The Congress Party has ruled out resignation of Pawan Kumar Bansal and Ashwani Kumar, leading to confrontation with the opposition parties.

The opposition has been demanding the Law Minister's resignation, accusing him of trying to interfere with what is meant to be an independent probe into how private players got coal licenses.

The BJP, which has intensified the attack on the Railway Minister over bribery charges against his nephew V. Singla, has demanded that the Congress leader be quizzed by the CBI to "unravel the conspiracy" in the case and launch a probe into alleged investments made by him and his family. (ANI)
