Imphal, May 2 (ANI): Imphal-based entrepreneur Hunjabam Shubhra Devi has provided an example of self-reliance and created jobs for others by foraying into the business of packaged food business.
When I was studying in Rajasthan, my friends used to get homemade eatables. When we asked our mothers to send something from Manipur, they used to send processed foods. While studying these products, you realize that you don't know what kinds of raw materials and chemicals are used. I realized that instead of them, we could produce similar products," said Shubhra Devi, the owner of 'Meira Foods'.
'Meira Foods' produces 45 items including pickles, candies and other commonly used kitchen commodities.
They procure raw material from various parts of Manipur, including vegetables and fruits.
The venture started with Rs.100 now has an annual turnover of Rs. 80 Lakhs.
Shubhra now intends to expand the business and move beyond the Northeast. She is planning to employ more people.
A worker Ibemnungshi Devi said, "There are many youngsters who don't get jobs, so such small industries are very helpful. If there are more small-scale industries in the region then it will definitely help the unemployed youth, and they will also generate revenue for the state."
Shubhra's success has set an example for the educated youth of the region. (ANI)
