London, May. 2 (ANI): UK publishers have reported record sales for 2012, despite the recession and the rise of e-readers, and EL James' 'Fifty Shades' trilogy is leading the pack with 10.5 million copies sold.
According to figures released by sales tracker Nielsen at the end of the year, the 'Fifty Shades' trilogy took top three spots in the 2012 best-sellers chart, the BBC reported.
The Publishers Association said that total spending on printed and digital books rose 4 percent to 3.3 billion pounds last year.
Digital spending rose by 66 percent to 411 million pounds but does not appear to have led to a marked decline for print, with physical book sales down by just 1 percent at 2.9 billion pounds. (ANI)
