New Delhi, May 1 (IANS) Two minor sisters who went missing from near the US embassy here Tuesday evening were recovered from a nearby area Wednesday morning, police said.

"The girls, aged 10 and three, would perform acrobatic tricks at traffic signals. The two were missing Tuesday evening from the Chanakyapuri area. They have been recovered today (Wednesday) morning from a footpath at Manas Marg, some distance from the embassy," a police officer said.

An aunt of the girls had lodged a complaint at the Chanakapuri police station. "Several teams were formed to trace the girls, who were recovered after a search through the night," the officer said.

Police said the girls wanted to run away from their aunt, who would force them to perform acrobatics at traffic signals to earn money from passersby. The parents of the girls have been informed, and the girls will be presented before the child welfare committee, the officer said.
