Thoubal (Manipur), April 30 (ANI): A eleven-member team of policemen was arrested for trying to smuggle a huge cache of drugs in Imphal.
Public prosecutor S. Maipak Singh said the arrested policemen was travelling in two Gypsies and were fully armed. He said another police team caught them with the huge cache of drugs.
Over 30,000 banned Pseudoephedrine tablets were found wrapped in a big plastic bag inside the two Gypsies.
The 11 arrested policemen include two officers and nine constables. They were produced before a court in Thoubal district and remanded to provide custody till May 6.
Police are yet to confirm the actual quantity of the drugs seized and its total cost in the market.
In February this year, an army colonel and five others were detained by police in Manipur's Chandel District after they were caught carrying illegal drugs meant to be smuggled to Myanmar. (ANI)
