Rajouri (J and K), April 28 (ANI): Coal miners struggling to make ends meet due to low wages in Jammu and Kashmir Rajouri District have demanded a hike in their salaries.
Coalminer Suresh said the miners have been working on meagre wages for 12 years.
" Our wage is only rupees 110. We are unable to understand what the state government is doing for us," Suresh said.
Expressing their lament over their condition, the workers demanded an increase in their salaries from Rs. 110 to Rs.
Rakesh, a coalminer, said: " It has been 15-16 years and the government doesn't want to give us anything, six months ago, our leader told us that he would increase our wages from 110 to 150 rupees, but nothing has been done so far."
The poor miners criticised the government for turning a deaf ear towards their genuine demands. (ANI)
