Doodhpathri (Kashmir), April 26 (ANI): Poor infrastructure has adversely affected tourism in the hill town of Doodhpathri in the Kashmir Valley.
Locals have urged the state government to take steps to develop the area to reduce unemployment.
Doodhpathri is located 42 kilometres from Srinagar, and is said to produce a very high standard and quantity of milk.
Surrounded by the grasslands, the beauty of the region is ruined by poor roads.
This makes it difficult for tourists to visit the area.
Owais Ahmad, a resident, said the region has tourism potential, but this could only be exploited if the road network is improved.
Dotted with magnificent slopes, green meadows, springs of natural water and gushing streams, the place has failed to make it to the state's tourism map.
Shafqat Husain, another resident, said that if basic infrastructure is improved, people would get jobs.
The Director of the state tourism department, Talat Parvez, said efforts are being made to develop the area into a tourist hub. (ANI)
