London, Apr.26 (ANI): Google has reportedly planned to alter its search results and change the way it operates its search page by distinguishing it from the pages of other rivals in the wake of European Union's (EU) anti-trust probe into Google's search labels.
Google will clearly separate promoted links from other web search results as well as display links that clearly label results from YouTube, Google Maps and its other sites that are 'specialized search services close to its own', the BBC reports.
While EU has asked for a deal with Google to clearly label results and end the anti-trust investigation without fines, rivals Microsoft Corporation have urged the regulating commission to force Google to change its practices, saying that mere labeling is not a solution to the competition issues.
The report further said that under the agreement, Google will opt out from the use of all their content in Google's search services, offer specialised search sites which focus on product or local search and will not restrict advertisers from running search advertising campaigns across rival ad platforms.
The firm plans to ask for feedback from rivals, users and companies in the same market after the concessions are tested for a month and if the changes made by Google in its search practices are deemed acceptable by the regulators, they would legally bind them for a term of five years.
Google's way of presenting its search results has had a far more significant impact on users and on the competitive process in Europe than in USA, the report added. (ANI)
