Reese Witherspoon denies saying 'do you know my name' during arrest

Washington, Mon, 22 Apr 2013 ANI

Washington, Apr. 22 (ANI): Reese Witherspoon, who reportedly told the police officer arresting her for disorderly conduct, "do you know my name," did not utter those words, a source has said.

According to the police report, Witherspoon asked the police officer "do you know my name?" to which he answered that "No, I don't need to know your name, right now." Then the 37-year-old actress said "You're about to find out who I am."

But the source told E! News that the Oscar winner insists that it didn't go down like that.

The source explained that when the police officer was handcuffing her, Witherspoon simply asked that "Don't you need to know my name?"

The source also added that there was no screaming or any sort of physical altercation between Witherspoon and the officer, adding that she was being protective of her husband and was fearful of the situation.

Witherspoon and husband Jim Toth were arrested and jailed on Friday morning in Atlanta for an alleged disorderly conduct and DUI, after getting pulled over under suspicion of driving while intoxicated.

Around 3:30 am the same day, the pair were released on bond and a court date is scheduled for Monday at 8 am in Atlanta Municipal Court. (ANI)
