London, Apr 21 (ANI): Formula One supremo Bernie Ecclestone has said that he believes that the Bahrain government is 'stupid' to host the Grand Prix, which has been slated to start today.
Although he has no qualms over Bahrain's decision to hold the Grand Prix, Ecclestone, however, said that the event has turned into an arena of politics and protests, for which he called the government 'stupid', the Daily Star reports.
Following speculations that the Bahrain event could be moved to an earlier slot in the Formula One season in a bid to halt the protests, Ecclestone said that organisation is looking at the calendar as they have more races to fit in.
Hinting that races could be held in other countries like Syria where the situation is arguably worse than Bahrain, Ecclestone said that the F1 does not go to a country to judge its situation.
However, Ecclestone dismissed the claims of campaigners that the Bahrain race should be cancelled because of the political unrest, saying that it is not an issue for F1. (ANI)
