New Delhi, Apr. 20 (ANI): Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who visited the five-year-old rape victim at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Saturday, directed the medical experts and doctors to keep a close watch, constantly monitor the child's situation and leave no stone unturned to extend the best possible medical care for her speedy recovery.
Azad had a detailed discussion with the team of medical experts and doctors who had operated upon the child. The doctors were hopeful that the child would stabilize soon, come out of the crisis and recover.
He also met the parents of the child and assured them of all assistance and best possible medical care.
Azad strongly condemned this brutal and barbaric act and sought speedy and exemplary punishment for the offender so that such heinous crimes do not take place in future.
The child was shifted from Swami Dayanand Hospital to AIIMS last evening.
The condition of the girl is on Saturday stable though she has suffered serious injuries in the assault, doctors attending on her said.
A 25-year-old youth allegedly involved in the rape of the five-year-old girl was arrested in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, early on Saturday morning. The accused Manoj is being brought to the national capital for interrogation. (ANI)
