Washington, Apr.19 (ANI): World no. 10 tennis player Janko Tipsarevic has claimed that tennis is devoid of drug cheats.
Tipsarevic's claims come after International Tennis Federation (ITF) declaration a month ago that a biological passport program will be released calling players for more tests where their blood profiles can be tracked, the CNN reports.
Dismissing Swiss tennis player Roger Federer's comment that thinking tennis does not have cases of doping is naivety, Tipsarevic has asserted his beliefs that tennis is a 'clean sport' on the grounds that none of the players he knows are doping.
Tipsarevic also insisted on keeping some privacy from the federation and said that he does not prefer to give out information on his all-time whereabouts.
Although British tennis player Andy Murray has claimed that it is necessary for the federation to conduct these tests to ensure that competitors at all levels are clean, Tipsarevic, however said that he is not happy with the number of drug tests that they have to face.
According to the report, Federer, Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Murray have been called for several tests and stricter controls by ITF.
Meanwhile, ITF stated that Tipsarevic was among a minority of players held for drug tests both in and out of competitions last year and stands as the highest category sample-provider, excluding the number of tests by national doping agencies and tests during Olympics and Paralympics. (ANI)
