Srinagar, April 19 (ANI): Changing the orthodox mindset of the society, a 23-year old girl became the first Kashmiri to develop an android application named 'Dial Kashmir,' which contained over 500 contacts of government departments and private numbers.
Mehvish Mushtaq, an ambitious computer engineer created an application, which is a one-stop source for 'essential information' about the state.
Mushtaq said that she wanted to develop something, which would prove beneficial for the people.
"There is nothing like this in Kashmir. Most of the people use android phones. There are a lot of search engines but there was no application and people face a lot of problems in finding phone numbers of different places so I thought of doing something, which would help people. This application would be helpful for the locals as well as for the tourists," said Mushtaq.
She felt the need to develop such an application because unlike outside stations where there are many applications and websites, which contain such information, Kashmir had none.
Mehvish also claimed that the application has witnessed an average rating of 4.7 out of 5 with a thousand plus downloads on Google Play.
Appreciating the work, Farah, a friend of Mehvish said that she has made the whole state proud.
"She is the first girl who made this kind of application. It would be very helpful for the people. People can find all the different kinds of contacts easily. We are very happy for this girl. She has made us proud. I would request people to use this application and come forward. It would be useful for everyone," said Farah.
Mehvesh has a lot of interest in computer education. She did an online course of Android application designing.
It took her two weeks time to develop the application.
'Dial Kashmir' provides users with detailed information like addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of various essential services like healthcare, tourism, education, transport, police and many other departments in Kashmir. (ANI)
