PCB creates new constitution in accordance with ICC rules

Islamabad , Thu, 18 Apr 2013 ANI

Islamabad, Apr 18 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board has repealed its 2007 constitution by complying with the International Cricket Council's (ICC) charter document, and has submitted the new constitution to ICC during the international body's board meeting in Dubai.

According to a PCB spokesman, the new constitution conforms to the requirement of ICC with regard to independence of the boards and prevention of undue interference by governments in cricket administration in member countries, the Daily Times reports.

According to PCB chairman Mohammad Zaka Ashraf, the new constitution, which includes input from stakeholders including the ICC, has been a long and thoughtful exercise and will be beneficial for cricket in Pakistan in the long run.

Ashraf also said that the completion of the task also reflected the PCB commitment as a responsible member of the ICC.

Congratulating the PCB, ICC president Alan Isaac said that the board and the Pakistan government has produced a constitution that makes the process of electing its chairman in a democratic manner and reduces the risk of inappropriate government interference in line with the ICC's constitutional provisions.
