'Mamata government ignoring attacks on Left'

Kolkata,Politics, Wed, 17 Apr 2013 IANS

Kolkata, April 17 (IANS) The opposition Left Front Wednesday accused the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal of ignoring the alleged attacks on opposition parties after the recent heckling of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by activists in Delhi.

Accusing the state government of being unsympathetic to its grievances, the Left Front also sought intervention of Governor M.K. Narayanan.

"Despite repeated statewide attacks on the opposition parties, the government has been behaving as if nothing has happened. So we have sought the intervention of the governor," leader of opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra said here.

Mishra said there had been statewide retaliatory attacks on the opposition parties following the April 9 heckling of Banerjee and Finance Minister Amit Mitra by Left-affiliated student activists in New Delhi.

"The Trinamool has taken thousand times more revenge. Even those who don't have any connection with the Delhi incident are being attacked," said Mishra.
