New Delhi, Apr 16 (ANI): Condemning the twin blasts in Boston, President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday said terrorism shows no respect for any boundary and added that the world should unite to combat the menace of terrorism.
Extending sympathy to the families of the blast victims, Mukherjee further expressed the hope that the perpetrators will be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, in a message to US President Barack Obama, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh assured all help in the investigations.
"Mr. President, in keeping with the excellent cooperation between India and the United States to combat terrorism, we offer you our full support for the investigations into the attack," he said.
"I am deeply shocked and saddened by the outrageous terrorist attack in Boston yesterday. This senseless and cowardly act of violence has struck a city that has long stood as the symbol of openness, learning, innovation and enterprise," he said.
"The people of India join me in condemning the attack in the strongest terms. We stand in solidarity and sympathy with the bereaved families, the injured and the people of the United States," he added.
He further said: "The attack serves as a tragic reminder of the evil of terrorism that still threatens our nations and lurks in our cities. At the same time, it redoubles our resolve to remain unrelenting in our efforts to defeat terrorism and to defend and uphold the values that define our nations."
Three persons were killed and over 130 sustained injuries when two powerful explosions rocked Boston during an annual marathon.
The two blasts occurred within seconds at a sidewalk along the route of the Boston Marathon, where thousands of people had lined up to cheer on the marathoners. (ANI)
