Raipur/ New Delhi, Apr 16 (ANI): At least nine Maoists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Chhattisgarh.
The encounter took place when Greyhounds personnel in coordination with the CRPF and Chhattisgarh police personnel raided a hideout of the Maoists in a dense forest close to the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border this morning.
"Last reports I got, nine Naxalits had been killed. It was joint team of CRPF and Greyhounds from Andhra Pradesh. And our forces and the Greyhounds performed very well. I think this will deliver a very telling blow against Naxalites," said Union Home Secretary R.K. Singh.
Singh also lauded the security forces for performing exceptionally well in the Naxal-affected states of Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha.
"Security forces have been doing well whether it is in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand or Odisha. The security forces are on the ascended and the Naxalites are on the backfoot," he added. (ANI)
