PCB suspends umpire Nadeem Ghauri for four years on charges of corruption

Sydney , Mon, 15 Apr 2013 ANI

Sydney, Apr.15 (ANI): Pakistan cricket umpire Nadeem Ghauri has said that he would appeal against his suspension for four years by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on charges of corruption.

The umpire's corrupt act was revealed during a sting operation by an Indian television station in 2012, Sydney Morning Herald reports.

According to the report, the ban by PCB states that Nadeem Ghauri has been expelled for agreeing to 'extend undue favours for material gain'.

However, Ghauri regrets PCB's 'one-sided decision', which he said that he was informed only through the media. Ghauri had confessed about his conversation with the man who set up the sting, adding that Bangladeshi umpire Nadir Shah, who had been suspended by PCB for 10 years, introduced him to the man, the report added.
