Lucknow, April 14 (ANI): Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati on Sunday accused the incumbent Samajwadi Party government in the state of political vendetta for removing hoardings installed near the Bhimrao Ambedkar Samajik Parivartan Sthal in the city to mark his 122th birth anniversary.
Apparently peeved over the removal of the hoardings, Mayawati said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and his Samajwadi Party government is treating her party as the number one target.
"Members of the opposition parties are being dealt with political vendetta and BSP is being made number one target," Mayawati claimed.
"The (state) government knew that it was Babasaheb's anniversary and lakhs of people will come to pay tribute to him. On this occasion hoardings are installed across the country for which no permission is required," she said.
Mayawati said that considering the approach of the state government, her partymen had approached the concerned authorities in advance for permission to install hoardings near the Sthal.
"Till yesterday, a large number of hoardings were installed within three kilometres of the sthal, but I have come to know that a lot of drama took place last night and on the directive of the SP government, all of them removed. In whatever strong words the move is condemned is less," she said. (ANI)
