'Defiant' Vettel says Malaysian GP win 'revenge' against 'undeserving' Webber

Sydney, Fri, 12 Apr 2013 ANI

Sydney, Apr 12 (ANI): In a revelation which has created shock waves across the racing community, Red Bull star Sebastian Vettel has admitted that his decision to overtake his teammate Mark Webber for victory at the Malaysian Grand Prix had been an act of pure retribution.

Underlining the irreparable feud between the pair, the triple world champion said that Webber did not deserve to win, arguing that Webber had failed to help him throughout their tense five-year partnership at Red Bull, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

According to Vettel, there is a conflict between him and his older teammate as he respects team decisions, and hinted that Webber frequently disobeyed them, for which he took revenge by winning at Sepang.

An apparently unrepentant Vettel, who took a complete turn from the contrition persona that he adopted while apologising to Webber and the Red Bull management in Malaysia, further said that he will flout team orders again if he found himself in a similar position in the future.

Vettel also said that although he respected Webber as a racing driver, there was more than one occasion in the past where he could have helped the team and he did not, adding that they have a professional relationship instead of a relationship based on trust.

Dismissing suggestions that he had been sanctioned for his actions, Vettel said that although he had apologised for his actions, he is confident that he will never be punished for them.

According to the report, Vettel had apparently broken his control during the rigorous inquisition ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix and made his shocking admittance.

The 25-year-old's frictions with Webber had flared up frequently even before the incident in Malaysia, notably when he grew frustrated with his teammate for holding him up in last year's crucial final race in Brazil, the report added. (ANI)
