Guwahati, April 12 (ANI): Security personnel recently announced that they had killed two ULFA cadres in Assam's Dibrugarh District in an encounter.
They said the encounter took place after they were tipped off about the ULFA cadres location. They also confirmed that in a separate incident, they had retrieved both arms and ammunition.
The encounter took place in a paddy field in Dibrugarh district, while a combined team of police and army was conducting raids in the Bordoloni area.
The militants fired at the security forces, who fired back in retaliation.
Two militants, however, managed to escape.
The security forces seized two HK-37 rifles and grenades.
"The search is still on for the insurgents who escaped. We are hopeful of catching them soon. We are yet to identify the two dead insurgents. They may be new recruits," said Sukhbir, an army soldier.
Security forces said the huge cache of arms and ammunition were retrieved from near a railway track in Dima Hasao district.
It included a powerful IED, two Chinese hand grenades, 3 handmade revolvers and several other explosives.
The security forces are leaving no stone unturned in their effort to end problems created by insurgent outfits in Assam that are trying to create a fear psychosis among the people. (ANI)
