Islamabad, Apr.11 (ANI): Pakistan cricket's chief selector Iqbal Qasim has said that cricket culture in Pakistan does not favour the rotation policy because of the players' insecure nature.
According to Qasim, Pakistan players lack good form and consistency unlike Australia which stands in the way of the selection committee to finalize a good combination for the matches ahead, The Express Tribune reports.
Qasim said that in addition to the players' lack of form and consistency, there are insecurities among the senior players who are obsessed with their position in the team and do not favour absorbing any young talent who could replace them in the future.
Qasim further claimed that players do not intend to be rested and instead worry about losing their hold on the team rather than exploring their own potentials.
He added that the current team has been undergoing a rebuilding process in order to form the perfect combination and achieve stability in the team, although he said that the cricket culture in Pakistan does not permit the rotation of players. He finds it unfortunate that players are neither helping the committee nor themselves.
The absence of good young players in the team results in the inability for the team to perform on fast bowling and battling departments. The South Africa series saw a disheartening performance by the team as Pakistan scored 3-0 in the test matches and lost by 3-2 in the One Day International (ODI) series. (ANI)
