New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued notice to Uttar Pradesh Government and sought reply till April 15 over the Bulandshahr rape victim case.
Taking suo-moto cognizance on the issue, the apex court also criticised women police official's action to put a minor rape victim behind the bars.
A ten-year-old girl was locked up inside a women police station in Bulandshahr when she went to lodge complaint.
The incident took place on Sunday night when mother of the rape victim approached the women police official and narrated the entire story of sexual assault on her daughter.
After registering a case, mother and daughter were sent to a local hospital for medical examination. But next morning, when duo returned to police station, the women police officer locked up the rape victim.
The incident came to the fore when a local journalist visited the police station and captured the locked up girl in his camera. After filming the girl, the reporter approached the district top cop for assistance.
The woman officer heading the police station has been transferred since then. (ANI)
