New Delhi, April 10 (IANS) President Pranab Mukherjee greeted people on the occasion of the new year, based on the lunar calender, celebrated Thursday in different parts of the country.
"On the auspicious occasion of Chaitra Sukladi, Ugadi, Gudi Padava and Cheti Chand, Navreh and Sajibu Cheiraoba, I extend my warm greetings and good wishes to all fellow citizens," the president said in a message.
"These festivals heralding the new year in different parts of the country and usher in spring - a time of hope and creativity when nature shares its generosity with us. On these joyous occasions, let us resolve to share happiness and joy with others," Mukherjee said.
"May these festivals strengthen the bonds of amity and friendship among our people and foster peace, harmony and prosperity in our country," he said.
