Islamabad, Apr 6 (ANI): Former Pakistan Test captain Wasim Akram has said that politics must be kept separate from sports following India stalling all bilateral ties after the November 2008 attacks on Mumbai, which were blamed on Pakistani-based militants.
Akram, who was the bowling coach of Kolkata Knight Riders until last year, further said that India should resume all sporting ties with Pakistan and allow Pakistani cricketers to play in the lucrative Twenty20 tournament, the Daily Times reports.
According to Akram, the presence of Pakistani players will benefit the Indian league as Pakistani bowlers are better than Indian ones.
Pakistan players featured in the inaugural IPL in 2008 but were not allowed to take part in the ongoing sixth edition of the tournament although India played a short, ties-reviving series with Pakistan in December-January.
Known as 'Sultan of swing' for his mastery, Akram will train around 15 current and upcoming bowlers at a camp in Karachi from April 20-29, the report added. (ANI)
