Chennai, April 3 (IANS) The Tamil Nadu government and heavy vehicle body manufacturers will together set up an industrial estate outside Namakkal, Minister for Rural Industries P. Mohan said in the assembly Wednesday.

Replying to the debate on the demand for grants for his department, Mohan said an industrial estate for heavy vehicle body units would be set up in the Namakkal district, which would not impact the environment.

He said the government's share would be Rs.12.68 crore and the private party's share Rs.1 crore.

Namakkal is a major centre for truck body building in the state.

Mohan said the government would set up industrial estates in four places in the state through the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO).

He said a tea factory in the cooperative sector will be set up at an outlay of Rs.5 crore in Nilgiri district and land has been identified for the project.
