Islamabad, Apr 2 (ANI): Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has said that it has no plans to sack captain Misbah-ul-Haq or coach Dav Whatmore following the team's Test series whitewash in South Africa.
Stating that PCB will not press the panic button, chairman Zaka Ashraf said that he does not see any threat to Misbah's captaincy or Whatmore's tenure, adding that both of them have done well with the team in the last one year, the Daily Times reports.
Stating that the PCB is keeping in mind Whatmore's and Misbah's contributions to the team while assessing the performances in South Africa, Ashraf said that he wanted to bring consistency and continuity to Pakistan cricket and added that not reacting harshly after one or two bad series was one way of doing this.
Pointing out Pakistan cricket's problem is panicking early, Ashraf said that nowadays, cricket is like science, in which confidence is necessary for the players and the management.
Ashraf also said that the PCB will provide the players with the best environment and facilities and then expect them to perform accordingly.
Ashraf also made it clear that as long as Misbah is completely fit and committed and was performing as per the board's expectations, his place in the team was secure, adding that since he took over as captain he has handled things well and delivered a good performance.
Meanwhile, the PCB chief also said the board has realised the urgency of having a full-time batting coach attached to the team, adding that they have invited applications from interested candidates from abroad and in Pakistan. (ANI)
