Mumbai, Mar 31 (ANI): Police have arrested 18 girls and 30 men from a bar in suburban Dahisar near Mumbai.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Social Service Branch, Mumbai Police, Nand Kumar Inaamdar, said investigations are in progress and added that the guilty will be punished.
Acting on a tip-off, Mumbai Police raided the bar and seized cash of around Rs.80,000 to Rs.85,000 from the bar, and detained eight bar girls, 30 customers and some bar staff.
A case has been registered against the bar owner, which according to locals, was being run illegally.
Mumbai is a popular source, transit and destination station for traffic in women and girls.
According to reports, more than a hundred girls have been rescued from bars, saloons and massage centres, which were functioning as prostitution dens. (ANI)
