New Delhi, Mar 31 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday said the new team has been formed to provide an alternative to the inefficient and corrupt Congress-led UPA Government.
"The new team was made keeping in mind the geographical and caste equations. Fair amount of representatives are from the SC/ST, women and youth. This team was formed to provide an alternative to the inefficient and corrupt UPA government," said Naqvi.
"I feel that the nation is going to face all sorts of challenges in the coming future and especially due to the governance of Congress led UPA government. This core committee team has been formed in order get relief from the challenges created by the current government. Thus we hope to govern the nation in best way possible under the leadership of BJP.
Asserting that this is a perfect team, Naqvi said: "The team was made after consultations with senior leaders by party president Rajnath Singh. The appointments were carefully made by keeping in mind the strengths of each appointee."
"After consulting with the eminent party leaders, the party president Rajnath Singh announced the core committee team. With a pledge of overall fight and struggle to achieve the goal of good governance, this team shall hoist the flag of victory of Bharatiya Janata Party, in 2014 general elections or 2013," he added.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was on Sunday re-inducted into the BJP's highest decision-making body, the parliamentary board.
Modi makes his comeback to the party's top decision-making body after six years.
The parliamentary board has only 11 top-ranking leaders and Modi is the only chief minister included in this select group.
BJP president Rajnath Singh, who met party's veteran L.K. Advani this morning ahead of the announcement, named former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah, Varun Gandhi, J P Nadda, Ananth Kumar, Dharmendra Pradhan, Muralidhar Rao and Rajiv Pratap Rudy as general secretaries of the party.
Actor-turned-politician Smriti Irani has been replaced by Saroj Pandey as the head of the BJP's women's wing, but has been appointed as one of the party's vice-presidents.
Besides Irani, Sadananda Gowda, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Dr C. P. Thakur, Jual Urao, S. S. Ahluwalia, Balbir Punj, Satpal Malik, Prabhat Jha, Uma Bharti, Bijyo Chakravarti Lakxmikanta Chawla and Kiran Maheshwari have also been made the party's vice-presidents.
Prakash Javadekar, Shah Nawaz Hussain, Nirmala Sitaraman, Vijay Sonkar Shashtri, Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi, Meenakshi Lekhi and Captain Abhimanyu have been made the party's spokespersons.
This is part of the BJP's massive overhaul as the new president puts in place his team of officebearers, carefully balancing the interests of the party with those of its ideological mentor, the RSS. (ANI)
