Srinagar, Mar 30 (ANI): Picturesque and historic Mughal gardens have geared up to get a facelift ahead of tourist season in Srinagar.
These gardens, which are a must stop for tourists visiting the state are getting revamped by the state's tourism and floriculture department to receive visitors.
Director for Floriculture in Kashmir, Sunil Misri said, "This time of the year our efforts are concentrated on maintenance work. So we have started repairing the Mughal Gardens. In the month of March we start planting the Chinar."
Tourists from all parts of the country and abroad look forward to visiting these gardens.
"Flowers have started to bloom in these Mughal gardens. Around March-April the flowers mainly begin blooming and here in the Tulip garden, flowering starts in the later stages of March. Tulip is a flower, which blooms during low temperature. Earlier tourists used to come in the months of June and July but due to Tulips the visitors have started to arrive in March. Some start coming from January itself so that they do not miss the splendid sight," said Ghulam Hassan, a gardner.
The historic and well-known Mughal gardens witnessed record footfalls last year with more than 3000 tourists visiting the garden per day.
The floriculture department claims that these gardens have already generated a revenue of around 300 million rupees.
