London, Mar 26 (ANI): Controversial golf star Tiger Woods has regained the No.1 position in the world after his two-shot win in the Arnold Palmer Invitational tournament IN Bay Hill, Florida, for the 11th time during his eventful career and the first time since October 2010.
The American overtook former No.1 Rory McIlroy with his victory at Bay Hill which is his third on the US PGA Tour this season and his sixth in his last 20 starts, the Mirror reports.
The paper further said that Woods, who had gone through divorce, a swing change and more knee surgery, will look to end a longer absence by his first Major since 2008 at the Masters next month.
The American golf ace, who slid as low as 58th on the ladder, said that the win was a significant milestone on the road to redemption for him, adding that it had been quite a while since he felt this level of happiness.
According to Woods, the win was a by-product of hard work, patience and the drive to get back to winning golf tournaments, adding that he can play the game at a high level if he is healthy.
The 14 Majors winner further said that he is confident that he can contend in every event and major championships and be consistent, adding that he had turned some of the weaknesses of last year into strengths. (ANI)
