New Delhi, March 26 (ANI): Around 30 Bollywood celebrities walked the ramp in Vikram Phadnis' special collection dedicated to the Rural India on Day 5 of Lakme India Fashion Week Summer Resort 2013.
His collection was in collaboration with the Swadesh Foundation an NGO by Ronnie and Zarina Screwala working for the empowerment of rural India.
"Sawdesh is one such foundation which is doing this work and we have used Lakme Fashion Week as a platform just to create awareness. So that all of us who are present here if can change the mindset then we think we have achieve the purpose," the fashion designer said.
The list of celebrities on the ramp included Ashutosh Gowariker, Anurag Basu, Ekta Kapoor, Jitendra, Ram Kapoor, Sakshi Tanwar, Kunal Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, Poonam Sinha, Vaibhavi Merchant, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan, Farah Khan, Rohit Bal, Dia Mirza, Sushant Singh Rajput, Juhi Chawla among others.
The theme was named 'A Celebration of Rural India' and his collection had rural touch to all the garments that included cotton sarees with embroideries, salwar kameez, khadi kurtas, sherwanis for men and subtle yet graceful lehengas."This collection I have designed for Swadesh is inspired by the energy of Sun, the colours of Sun, Red, Orange, and mustards. So I kept all that in mind," Phadnis explained.
"I only do Indian clothes so they were very simple. But I think the energy which was there in the audience all that you have seen. I think it was once in a life time, I don't think I can recreate this magic that happened tonight," he added. (ANI)
