Kutch, Mar 25 (ANI): Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has lauded Border Security Force (BSF) personnel for guarding areas prone to infiltration after undertaking a visit to the border region in Gujarat's Kutch District.
"I can assure that the people of the country are safe. There is no need to live in fear. Our army and our paramilitary forces are very efficient. We are continuously patrolling all regions. Thus, I can guarantee safety," he told media here on Sunday.
"When it comes to protection at the border, when it comes to the guarding of the border areas and when it comes to restricting infiltrators transgressing into Indian territory, we are taking the best possible efforts," he added.
Shinde also added that in order to make border fencing more efficient and stringent, designs would be proposed by students of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).
"We are looking into border fencing. I called for a meeting. We decided in the meeting that when the two-line fencing collapses, there is requirement of three-line fencing as in Punjab and Kashmir borders. We have taken a decision that the engineering students of IIT Gandhinagar would design it," said Shinde.
Shinde, who flew down to Kutch from Pune alongwith BSF Director General Subhash Joshi and four other senior home ministry officials, visited various creek areas, including Sir Creek.
The aim of his visit was to inspect the preparedness of BSF in the region of Kutch. (ANI)
