New Delhi , Mon, 25 Mar 2013 ANI

New Delhi, Mar 25 (ANI): External Affairs minister, Salman Khurshid on Monday met his counterpart from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zlatko Lagumdzija, who is on a five-day visit in New Delhi as the two nations look to strengthen bilateral trade relations.

Trade between Bosnia and India ranges around $50 million. It is handicapped owing to the lack of adequate finances, weak banking sector, lack of awareness of business potential and deficient in reliable credit facilities between the two countries.

During his five-day visit, Lagumdzija, who is accompanied by his wife, Amina Lagumdzija and a business delegation, would meet junior trade minister, D. Purandeswari and members of the industry.

Lagumdzija is also expected to sign several Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with members of the industry and he is also scheduled to attend a business forum meeting in New Delhi.

A joint committee on trade provides the institutional framework for intergovernmental discussions on economic cooperation.

The second joint trade committee meeting took place in Delhi in September 2006 when status of trade and economic cooperation was reviewed. The meeting also identified agriculture, energy, construction (of Railway lines), information technology and air transport as major areas where cooperation could be furthered. (ANI)
