Sydney, Mar 25 (ANI): Shane Watson has claimed it was an absolute honour to lead Australia in the final Test match against India, which they lost by six-wickets that completed a 4-0 series thrashing.
The 31-year-old's roller coaster last fortnight included being suspended from the team, flying to Sydney for the birth of his son, being welcomed back to the team, and then taking over as temporary skipper, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Watson made only 17 and five with the bat, ending a dismal personal tour in which he averaged only 16.5, but said he was privileged to become the country's 44th Test captain in spite of the result.
Watson said he has absolutely loved it, to be totally honest, adding of course he would hand it back because Clarke is the man and he has got no say in that, but he has absolutely loved the last three or four days.
Watson added it has been an absolute honour to be able to captain his country and he has had an absolute blast even though he hasn't been able to contribute with run scoring unfortunately.
The all rounder further said for the last three days he has had an absolute ball, being able to lead the guys, adding whatever he asked of the team, everyone gave it absolutely everything and that is all you can ask for. (ANI)
