District floriculture officer, Javed Ahmad Shah said, "We have developed a big patch of land, nearly1 hectare at the entrance of the garden where we have planted tulips. So tourists will get to see tulips all around, the moment they enter the garden. There are around 26 new varieties of tulips which we have introduced here for the first time and there are different bright, lovely colours, which I am sure the tourists have not seen earlier."
This year, the authorities have gone a step further to woo the tourists by planting 26 new varieties of tulips at the entrance.
The beauty mesmerised the visitors at the Tulip garden as they clicked pictures of the bloomed flowers.
Presently, hundreds including professional gardeners and workers are busy designing and levelling the garden, under the supervision of authorities of the floriculture department.
Tourists were enthralled by the beauty of the valley and said that people should visit Kashmir to compare its beauty with international tourist destination like Switzerland.
"This garden looks very beautiful. As the saying goes that 'if the trailer of a movie is good, then the movie will be even better.' Similarly, from this trailer we can decipher the beauty of this garden when all the work will be completed. And as people comment that it is worth visiting and seeing Switzerland, I would say that you come to Srinagar, see the tulip garden and other places then you will able to decide whether Switzerland is more beautiful or our Kashmir," said Kawanljeet Khurana, a tourist from western Mumbai city.
An increasing number of tourists are visiting Kashmir for its flora over the last few years.
Jammu and Kashmir is a well-known tourist destination and is also recognized for its scenic beauty.
Kashmir has the Asia's largest tulip garden named as Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, located at Siraj Bagh Cheshmashahi, which is in the vicinity of the world famous Dal Lake in Srinagar city. (ANI)
