Save energy campaign on March 23

Kolkata, March 14 (IANS) WWF's global campaign "Earth Hour" 2013 would be observed March 23 with switching off of non-essential lights for an hour besides an emphasis on renewable energy, an NGO official said here Thursday.

The campaign that aims to raise awareness and inspire individual action on climate change, goes a step further this year.

"In 2013, it is not merely the awareness programme or switching off of the (non-essential) lights for one hour. We are emphasising on a shift from consumption of electricity to renewable energy," said Saswati Sen, WWF state director for West Bengal.
